Work Hard Pittsburgh’s mission is to create capacity and deliver resources to entrepreneurs and to help organizations apply entrepreneurial thinking to their problems. We create programming, organize communities, and deliver services that lower the barrier to entry to entrepreneurship, while increasing the chances of success for people looking to impact the economic, social, and cultural landscape of our region.
For us, entrepreneurship is a way of problem solving, focused on outcomes, and driven by measurable progress. It is not solely an endeavor used to generate profit, but instead leverages profit for impact in our communities and for the social good.
To that end, Work Hard Pittsburgh provides a legal and fiduciary framework for business incubation that can be applied anywhere there is entrepreneurial density. Our incubator sources its sustainability from services we render to businesses and nonprofits in our region and through social-impact investment vehicles that we deploy.
Services include:
- digital services sourced from a curated community of digital freelance professionals that adds capacity to some of the region’s biggest brands.
- facilitation of condensed and intensive technology training that is connected directly to staffing services, allowing people of all ages and from all socioeconomic backgrounds to better their economic standing on improve their chances at finding employment.
- management of activated spaces, like our home office, located in the Allentown neighborhood of Pittsburgh, that leverage the social impact of entrepreneurship to encourage responsible economic redevelopment.
Finally, Work Hard Pittsburgh is the region’s first mission-driven, owner-operated entrepreneurial ecosystem. Entrepreneurs and the freelance professionals that participate in our programming have opportunities to vest and obtain an ownership stake in the governing Benefit Corporation.
